Welcome to DDE Middle School
Welcome to the Dwight D. Eisenhower (DDE) Middle School! We are located in West Berlin, Camden county, NJ. Our middle school houses grades 4 – 8. There are approximately 300 students total enrolled. Upon graduating from DDE, our students attend Overbrook Regional High School in Pine Hill. We are proud to be a Choice School for the state of New Jersey.
In addition to the core subjects - language arts, math, science and social studies - all DDE students enjoy special area classes in health & physical education, music, art, technology, Spanish and open access library. Accelerated Reading and Math supplement the core program and provide opportunities for differentiation and advanced learning in the classrooms. Furthermore, all DDE students are assessed in literacy and math three times per year to provide the educational staff with relevant data to ensure targeted instruction. Students who score below target scores on benchmark assessments are eligible for additional support services through Response to Intervention (RTI).
Our students in grades 6, 7 & 8 have the opportunity to play a variety of sports and to become members of the Student Government Association. Students in grades 7 & 8 may apply to become members in the National Junior Honor Society. All students can earn Dragon Dollars by displaying our school-wide behavior expectations of being safe, respectful and responsible. These Dragon Dollars make students eligible to earn special privileges.
Parents have full access to their child’s current academic and behavior performance by logging into our student database – OnCourse. In OnCourse parents can see their child’s grades, current assignments and anecdotal behavior information. All teachers may be contacted via OnCourse or telephone (leave a voicemail) or email.
We are confident your children are going to enjoy their middle school experience at DDE!
A History Lesson
The Dwight D. Eisenhower (DDE) Middle School was built in 1968. There was a small addition of four classrooms added in 1972. In 1993 the school was expanded once again to add the media center, computer lab, art room and music room. In 2000 with the dissolution of Lower Camden County Regional School District and the return of students in grades 7 & 8 to DDE, the school was expanded once again to add the gym, locker rooms and a few more classrooms. The school grounds include a baseball and softball field which are used by the DDE baseball and softball teams. Although the formal name of the school is Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial School, we commonly refer to it as DDE Middle School.
